Prasco Park Family Night

Right around the corner from my parents' old neighborhood, there was a really great-looking ballpark that went up a few years ago. We never really understood what is was there for, but I got the whole scoop a few weeks ago when Kyle, the girls and I went up for Chick-Fil-A Family night at Prasco Park.

The stadium (it really is almost as substantial as a minor league park - perhaps cooler than some even) plays host to a few amateur and semi-professional teams as well as various tournaments, Old-Fashioned Rules exhibition games, etc. That's cool, but the mission is cooler. From the program -

"Prasco Park, which opened on June 19, 2008, is one of the premier amateur baseball destinations in America ... Prasco Park endeavors to provide a safe, enjoyable, and family-friendly atmosphere for all players, parents, families, coaches and spectators. ... Prasco Park is intended to be a focal point of community outreach through athletic contests and other special events. While here, we hope that you may experience and example of God's love and blessing. We also pray that Prasco Park is used to further the purposes and growth of God's kingdom - for the park is an example of His provision, and is dedicated to His glory. ...

Prasco is an independent pharmaceutical company [that provides Authorized Generics] ... Prasco's guiding principle is "love God, love people." And following that guidance, Prasco's corporate culture is built upon Christian principles and values - including integrity, loyalty, dedication, and servant-leadership."

Um, seriously? So cool. In any industry, but especially one that typically has "guiding principles" at the far other end of the spectrum from integrity and servant-leadership.

Anyway, the night was sweltering hot (as most have been this summer - a record 22 days with heat indices above 100, when we normally have fewer than 4 - and it's barely August), but it was a great time. We met my parents up there and enjoyed baseball (which the girls love these days), free Chick-Fil-A, free Mister Softee ice cream novelties, soda and gatorade, etc - in a really fun atmosphere. A few pictures below, with most in Picasa now that this entry is already quite long .... :)

We're looking forward to the next one and are so excited about this place!
