One Year Well-Child Check

The girls had their 1-year check up today and are, in fact, getting so big! :)  They weren't able to get their immunizations since their birthday isn't until tomorrow, but everything else went well.  Both girls have a slightly low hemoglobin so we are to start them on a multivitamin with iron, but other than that they have a clean bill of health!  They even showed off their words and signs for cup, food, eat, lunch, etc as they desperately tried to tell me they were hungry.  Bad timing when I made the appointment, but it was fun and the staff got a kick out of them!

We already knew they were at the very least on track with developmental milestones, transition to sippy cups and milk and finger foods, etc, so mostly I just wanted to know their "stats" ... which I'm sure you're waiting for, too!

ELISE --
Head Circumference: 18 inches (65th %ile)
Length: 29 inches (40th %ile)
Weight: 19lb, 3oz (16th %ile)

AVERY:
Head Circumference: 18 inches (65th %ile)
Length: 28.75 inches (32nd %ile)
Weight: 18lb, 10oz (10th %ile)

Avery appears to be catching up in weight, but I think at least a portion of that was 4 days worth of poop.  Don't worry about her, the Miralax worked and she just had a ginormous blowout (right after the appointment).  At least she was in the kitchen...

Anyway, there you have it -- sweet, perfect, growing baby girls! :)

It's amazing how 1/4 inch can mean the difference of 8% at their age!

Happy 1st Birthday, Elise and Avery!!!!

Oh goodness. I looked back at this post just to see how big your girls were at their 12-month appt, and can you believe that Owen is only weighs 5 oz less than Avery at his 4 month checkup?! and he's only 2.5 inches "shorter". Wow. Big boy. ;) It must be so nice to still have sweet, tiny little babies :) He's growing way too fast for me!!

Oh Jacquelyn, the size isn't what's sad! My petite little girls are walking, talking to me in 2-word sentences and throwing tantrums. They're like children, instead of babies! Owen's size will level off (or he'll just be a football player! ;)), but they all STILL grow too fast. One of the conundrums of mommyhood - enjoying all the new things they learn, without being finished with the little people they once were! If you figure out how not to be emotional about all that, please help me! :)
